I try not to let my dogs bark like this often. But this time instead of distracting them I decided to record them on video to share with you. So you can see why I love them so much. Or not.
Warning - you may want to turn down your volume before pressing play.
I love how Casey just lies there the entire time, pretending nothing is happening. I bet he's imagining that he's in a home with no other dogs, where the only noise is from his new mom who is telling him how much she loves him while she pets him and gives him treats. He's no longer lying on a rumpled futon, surrounded by barking dogs -- instead he is lying on a giant soft fluffy pillow that smells slightly of chicken. He has just returned from a long walk in the woods, and the only thing on the agenda for the rest of the evening is a lot of one-on-one attention from his mom, a steak dinner, and a nap. Casey has a great imagination.
That is why he looks so relaxed in spite of the commotion going on around him. Well, that plus he really did just get back from a long walk in the woods - and he'll settle for whatever he can get. It's also why Remi is barking - Noelle and Casey got to go for a long walk, and Remi and Ziggy had to settle for a quick trip around the block. Remi is wanting to go back out and walk some more. Ziggy is just trying to get someone to play with him. Anyone who thinks deaf dogs don't bark? Now you know - sometimes deaf dogs don't STOP barking!

I liked that extra wide mouth bitey face at the end. Goodness, that it so loud!

Casey....You do have one good imagination! You will have that one day we just know.

Hahaha! I LOVE that Casey is totally immune to all that is going on around him! Deaf dogs do bark, and for what it is worth, some of the deaf cats that have come through our shelter have been the loudest talkers/meowers...
I had no idea that deaf dogs would bark. Gosh, that's really interesting. And loud. I thought me and Brudder Ranger were loud but those doggies have us beat!
Casey has Most Obviously perfected the art of going to one's happy place in your head.

Casey is really oblivious to all the commotion... one cool dude. The bitey faces at the end looks like fun.
Licks, hero
Wow that is some barking!
LOL! This video got my guys going. I love it when that happens.
Shannon and the Gang
Well, that would be something nice to wake up to in the morning! :)
So that's what a dog sounds like. LOL.
She's been taking the bottle well, which is a relief. I THINK she looks bigger, but I won't know until I the scale I ordered in the mail today. She's looking like she has a little more energy. Mom happily takes her in with the rest of the litter, so I'm thinking everything is going well.
They don't have names yet, per my husband. He doesn't want to get too attached, and I kind of agree. Already looking for homes for them, so, hopefully, they'll be adopted quickly.
That is so funny. And I guess I always assumed deaf dogs could bark - they just wouldn't know how loud they are!
And boy, what a daydream for Casey! He is a creative guy!
I didn't even turn down the sound - I am soooooo used to it!
Casey seems to be in a trance. I love it
