He is only five or six months old, and is very sweet. I took him to my parent's house and he immediately curled up in my Dad's lap and started purring. He knew a good thing when he saw it. So, knowing how soft-hearted my parents are, I said I could take him home, but he'd have to stay in a cage, quarantined from the rest of the house, until I was able to get him to the vet to get checked out the next day. And of course my mom said he could stay at their house for the night. Ha - gotcha. It's now five days later, and the cat has yet to leave my parent's house. Oh they don't want to adopt him - but they are willing to save him from the torture of living at my house. Although my mom babysits my nieces and nephews, and I think my house might be preferable to having three children constantly trying to hold him and play with him. But hey, if she's willing to foster him until he's ready for adoption, I am not going to say no!
My niece Darby named him Butterscotch. Between her and my mom, they almost have my sister and brother-in-law talked into adopting him. In the meantime, he's getting a lot of love and attention at my parent's house.
And when I asked him what he thought of going to live with Darby and Jack forever, he did this.
I'm just not sure if he was cheering or screaming in fear.

UPDATE
I'm very sad to share the news that I originally wrote this post a few days ago, and since then Butterscotch has passed away. Yesterday he was at the vet's office getting neutered and readied for adoption, and shortly after his surgery he stopped breathing and the vet was unable to resuscitate him. It appears that he may have had an undetectable heart problem. My neice and nephew are heartbroken. Only a week with this sweet, funny cat was not nearly enough.
