May Featured Blogs

The following blogs have been selected as featured blogs for May!

Open Hearts: Dog Fostering Blog - I recently discovered this blog written by another dog foster mom, and it has become one of my favorites.  Kim writes about the joys and heartaches of fostering, and makes me fall in love with each dog she fosters.

Donna and the Dogs - Donna writes about her life with her dogs, including adventures with rally obedience and K-9 nose work.  She's done an amazing job with her rescue dogs, and has helped to show just how much a rescue dog can accomplish!

Chronicle of Woos - I enjoy reading this blog, but I have to admit I would visit this blog even if they never wrote a word, just because of the pictures.  Thunder, Dakota and Phantom are Siberian Huskies, and they are just gorgeous.  If you haven't visited, stop by and check them out!

Bad Blair - This blog is written by Blair, a tortie cat who lives with Erika, a university student in Ontario, Canada.  Blair is currently teaching cats everywhere how to be naughty - very useful information!

We Three Doxies - This blog is usually written by Puddles, the most difficult challenging entertaining Doxie I have ever met.  She always makes me laugh, and often reminds me of a much smaller Ziggy.

I hope you'll take a few minutes to check out these blogs and maybe make some new friends!

April Featured Blogs

Here are the featured blogs for April!

Pitter Patter - One of my favorite humor blogs - this blog takes pictures of pit bulls submitted by readers, and adds funny captions.  It shows how wonderful and silly this breed really is.  And occasionally, they feature a picture of Ziggy, like this one:

Pei Days - This blog is written by Lola, a Chinese Shar Pei.  She is a wonderful rescue dog with a very busy life.  She keeps track of her big family, and especially of her brother Franklin.  A fun blog written by a most wonderful doggie (with some help from her Blog Mom).

Lucky Dog Rescue Blog - A blog written by Ashley, an animal rescuer in Mississippi.  In addition to running a rescue, she's involved in several other pet rescue groups, and writes a guest column for her local paper.  I like Ashley's blog because not only is it well written, but it gives a very honest look at rescue and what it really means to save a life.

Evolution of Darwin - This blog was another result of my search for Great Dane blogs.  Darwin is a most beautiful blue Great Dane and she gets to go to doggie day care and do all sorts of fun things that Remi only dreams about.  This is probably why this is Remi's favorite blog!

Mango & Dexter's Great Adventures - I think everyone knows Mango, but just in case you don't, definitely check out his blog.  Mango is a doggie of incredible size.  He shares his blog with his little brother Dexter, and they are always entertaining and fun to visit!

Featured Blogs for March

So here it is, March 1st, and once again it's time to select this month's featured blogs.  These are some of my favorite blogs to visit, and they have been chosen as a Featured Blog for the following reasons:

Kol's Notes:  Kolchak Puggle is funny.  He's very funny.  He's one of the very few doggies that can make me laugh even when I'm having a really bad day.  He's also smart - he taught himself how to turn on the fireplace!  He had good motivation because he doesn't like the cold.  And he lives in Canada.  Thanks for always making me smile, Kolchak Puggle!

At A Glacial Pace: This blog is written by Jess, the blind owner of a seeing-eye dog named Glacier.  I love reading this blog because it is really interesting to see how the dogs that are trained as guide dogs end up living their lives.  Jess also has a husband with a guide dog and two pet dogs - a full house!  It is amazing to read about all that Jess has accomplished, and the large role that dogs play in her life.

Tucker Tells All: This blog is written by a Powderpuff Chinese Crested!  Tucker is a rescue dog who has passed his CGC and is very smart and well behaved.  He has a great mom and he even lets her post sometimes.  His mom is doing a special series of posts called "50 Shelters in 50 States".  It's a great idea and something I hope to participate in eventually.

Rescued Insanity: This is a blog written by Shiva's mom.  She writes about her life with Shiva, an energetic, challenging, wonderful rescue dog.  I love the honesty and thoughtfulness that she shares on a variety of topics.  I love her training videos, and her obvious devotion that she has to Shiva.  I wish all of my fosters pets were adopted by owners even half as wonderful as Shiva has.

The Life and Times of Remington:  Remington is a Newfoundland, and I believe he is the biggest football fan I know. He is also the best dog at posing for photographs, and has the best sign-offs on his posts that i've ever seen!  Remington is also the Judge of Blogville, so if you need any judging, you know who to contact.

February Featured Blogs

It's February already, and time to select this month's Featured Blogs.

Of Pit Bulls and Patience - This blogger has a pit bull and a schnauzer mix, and a great way of sharing her life with her dogs.  This blog is definitely worth checking out!

Pet Blogs United - This blog was started by Oskar and his mom, and it brings together all sorts of various pet bloggers into one place.  They have weekly featured bloggers, Foster Fridays, and regular announcements for those in the pet blogging community.

Dog Eared - This blog is written by Mollie Jo and BoBo, two country poodles, and Uncle Puppy, a 1/2 poodle and 1/2 cocker spaniel.  I always enjoy reading about their adventures, and anxiously await Uncle Puppy to make good on his offer to come visit me.

The Portuguese Water Blog - A house full of dogs - a lot of work, but a lot of joy!  Most of them are Portuguese Water Dogs - a beautiful and seldom-seen breed, at least in this area.

Love And A Leash - This blog shares the life of Lollie, a foster dog who is everything that an adoptable dog should be (quite unlike a certain deaf, chewy, pit bull that I won't name).  The blog is well written and has fabulous photography!

Featured Blogs

To Other Blog Owners:

I have always enjoyed reading blogs on my lunch hour, but several months ago a new security feature at work caused my work computer to block all blogs - even before and after work hours!  I can still read them through Google Reader currently, but I'm unable to leave comments.  This makes me sad since those of you with blogs deserve to know how much I enjoy your blogs.  So I found myself left with a few options.  First is to read the blogs from my home computer where I can leave comments.  This doesn't work well since I am usually too busy chasing after Ziggy doing foster-related tasks at home.  Second was to find another way to let you know how much I enjoy your blogs.  So I developed a Featured Blog listing.  I will pick five blogs each month to feature on my blog.  I will do one post each month to share why I chose those blogs, and then the links to the blogs with the most recent post information will stay at the top of my blog all month long. Featured blog owners will also receive a badge showing they've been selected as a Featured Blog.  I hope those of you with blogs will forgive me for not commenting more often!  Please check out these featured blogs for the month of January, listed here in alphabetical order:

Daily Dose of Jack - Jack and his person (Tall Guy) always make me smile.  They are very funny - a perfect pick-me-up for a work day!

Frankly Speaking - Frankie, the Mayor of Blogville, is one of the nicest doggies I've met.  He put on his Christmas list to Santa that he wanted Santa to find Ziggy a real forever home.  I don't even think 87 gazillion thank yous could really show how much I appreciate that!

Mayzie's Dog Blog - Mayzie's blog is always the first blog I read.  She is a Most Wonderful dog and has the best, most positive attitude anywhere!  I'm considering painting Ziggy with brindle stripes and trying to sneak over to Mayzie's house and trade doggies.  Do you think anyone would notice?

Stumpy's Daily Dose o' Dirtville - Stumpy's blog is one of the most recent blogs I've started reading.  Stumpy has a pretty amazing life in Dirtville, quite different from my life in the suburbs.  I love reading about Stumpy's life.

Tucker - When I first started blogging, I deliberately went looking for a blog about a Harlequin Great Dane like Remi.  Then I found Tucker and I've been a big fan ever since.  Tucker and Remi are a lot alike, and I think if Remi got his own blog it would look like Tucker's blog.  Except Remi complains a lot more than Tucker does.  So maybe it's good that I just stick with reading Tucker's blog instead.

Stay tuned next month for more featured blogs!
