Eeyore Has Returned

A few months ago I fostered a deaf white pit bull named Eeyore.  Eeyore always looks a bit gloomy and depressed, which is why I named him after one of my favorite Winnie the Pooh characters.

Eeyore was quickly adopted, but was just recently returned due to being too overwhelming with the small children in the home.  At only ten months old, Eeyore is still a puppy and doesn't quite know how big or how strong he really is.  He doesn't seem happy to be back, and I can't really blame him.

"Thanks for noticin' me."
These pictures are from the first time Eeyore was at my house.  He gets along well with the other dogs for the most part, but I think he'll be happier in a home with fewer dogs.  Maybe.

"One can't complain. I have my friends. Someone spoke to me only yesterday."
He also isn't used to being crated, and is used to sleeping in bed with his people, and having someone home with him 24 hours a day.  So he's having a hard time adjusting to life in a foster home, where he doesn't get the attention he's used to and he is crated for long periods.  It's a better situation than a shelter, but it's not a real home.  I hope he finds his forever home soon!

I am also a fan of Eeyore! He's the best one, right??

Love these captions - poor Eeyore. Hope he finds his forever home soon. I know his right home is just around the corner. (Thank goodness you don't have to keep nailing his tail back on though, right? ;))

You know some folks get ANGRY when folks take a dog and then RETURN him or her... BUTT I see it as a sign that the CARED ENOUGH.. to not want him/her where somethingy isn't right.
THERE WILL be a home for Eeyore. Just not THAT one.

Such a cute dog, and so appropriately named.

Blueberry's human - Exactly! That brown spot on his tail might be where he's had it reattached once or twice in the past. ;-)

Frankie Furter - Yep, I totally agree - we want it to be a good fit for the dog and the humans, every adoption we do! Sometimes you can't tell until the dog has settled in and their behavior changes a bit. Eeyore will get another home soon - he is very popular at adoption events!

If he's "not adjusting well" being crated for long hours, etc., why not find a foster home where he'll be happier and not have to be confined? It would be a shame to see him regress tot he point that if and when he is adopted again, he won't be returned again due to behavioral issues.

Thanks Champ!
Libby - I would LOVE to find another foster home for him, but that's not as easy as it sounds. If someone is willing to foster him they're more than welcome to, but there are surprisingly few people interested in fostering deaf pit bulls which is why they're often euthanized!

Oh, sorry, I read too fast; didn't know this poor guy was deaf.
