Food Dispensers

Noelle and the Kong Wobbler
I'm constantly looking for ways to use up Ziggy's energy and keep him entertained and out of trouble.

One thing I've used to keep him busy is a toy known as a Kong Wobbler. It holds dry food or treats, and when the dog knocks it over, the treats fall out a little hole in the side.  Anyone remember the Playskool Weebles?  Weebles wobble but they don't fall down.  The Kong Wobbler is like a Weeble for dogs.  It is challenging for them, but the dogs are rewarded with food often enough to keep their interest.

Ziggy and the Buster Cube

Since Ziggy is an exceptionally smart dog, he soon became an expert at eating all of his meals out of the Wobbler, and would finish eating and be ready to cause trouble find other ways to entertain himself before I knew it.  So last weekend I purchased a Buster Cube for Ziggy.  It is similar to the Wobbler, but it is more challenging.  If your dog is lazy or easily frustrated then it might not be a good choice, but for Ziggy it is perfect.  He now spends up to 20 minutes earning his meals by chasing the Buster Cube around the living room, rolling it over until the food falls out.  Both the Kong Wobbler and the Buster Cube have been great investments.  The toys are easy to use, meal times last longer, and the dogs are happier.

You're doing a great job with Ziggy! It's up to us as owners to provide something for our extra-smart canines to do with their brains and energy.

I came back this morning from dropping my daughter off at school to find my opportunistic MinPin Chopper having his way with a box of Cheese Nips. Boy was he surprised when I interrupted his fun!

Hey... I have a CUBIE too. It is really really OLD... My mom got 3 of them waaaaaay back when they had the 3 short haired dachshunds. THEY LOVED their cubies. I don't like it toooo much butt that is just ME.
I will have to say that the cubies are about the most durable and super fun thingy EVER invented for dawgs. BUTT... whew are they noisy... especially with THREE clattering around all at once. hehehe

The question is how much chewing can they stand? I think my dogs would destroy it

I have seen a bunch of different kinds of things like this - so at least once he gets the cube down there are others you can try. We have a ball that is similar for the cats - the figured it out but it still isn't too easy for them.

We've used a Tricky Ball and a Pyramid similar to the Kong Wobbler, but I've never heard of the Buster Cube. If it's more challenging, that would be fantastic.

This is good to know. We were looking at something like this for Miss M. She has a ball with a little hole and she learned to bounce it to make the food come out. This might be perfect for her.

Don't forgets about the Tug a Jug and the Monster Mouth. Those are good ones too!

Lola has the kong wobbler and loves. I just did a pot about it last week. I may have to try the buster cube too.

Oooo...I'll have to tell my mom about that Wobbler thing. But guess what? She just found a Buster cube that she had forgotten about. She bought it 126 years ago for Brudder Ranger but he didn't want anything to do with it. Mom says he was skeered of it but Brudder Ranger says that it was "simply beneath him." I'm not really sure who to believe.

Anyways, now I really can't wait to try it out!
